“My wife and I had been in Hawaii for almost a week (Big Island and Maui) and wanted to find a restaurant up in the mountains as opposed to on the beach (which is where we had ate the rest of the week). We found Kula Lodge Restaurant via open table and booked a reservation. What a great spot. We got there just before sunset and got lucky with a great view from our table. Brian was our server and you could tell he was a real pro. They had a large drink menu: my wife found that they had Woodford and I had the Maui Coconut Porter which I had fell in love with years ago in Oahu.
We started out with 3 apps, French onion soup, ceasar salad, and the brussel sprouts. Portions were large so we shared. Their twist on the soup was really cool, the cheese was melted into a flaky thin crust that sat on top of the bowl. No fighting the melted cheese like you would normally expect. It was very good. The brussel sprouts were prepared very well also, not even the slightest bitterness in the aftertaste. We probably should have stopped there (did I mention the portions were shareable), but we trudged on! Lol.
I had the pork chop which was very very good, and my wife had the fish and prawns, also very very good. We wrapped it all up with a slice of pecan cheesecake (Brian verified they make their desserts in house). Everything was great including the atmosphere. Brian did a great job of continually checking in on us. Great restaurant with great food, service, and ambiance. Highly recommend.”

“My wife and I always go Kula Lodge restaurant every time we visit Maui for its great food , view and atmosphere . We brought some other family members with us this time . I had the Hawaiian omelet which was excellent and my wife had the Upcountry Pizza which she said was excellent. We had excellent service from Megan our server . We highly recommend this place and look forward to dining here again in the future.”

“Hidden gem! Randomly stopped by this place while driving up to the summit. The place looks a little hole-in-the-wall-ish at first, but once you turn the corner and see the view, you’ll know it was worth it. We had a veggie pasta (I think pesto or alfredo?) and it was very good!
The waitress was super nice and advised us to go check out the garden outside. The garden was amazing and also gave us great photo ops with the views in the back. There are also outdoor huts/cabanas where groups can hang out. All-in-all, this was a great place to stumble upon, especially if you’re hungry (or hangry)!”

I heard that Mulligans on the Blue has recently closed permanently, is this true? That would be some sad news. It was always on my list of places to eat at whenever I golfed the Wailea golf courses.
Tom they are definitely not closed! Have live music every weekend. They are open Friday-Sunday except for this weekend they are closed on Friday for a special private event. We love Mulligans! It’s a great spot. Stop by there next time you are on Maui and mahalo for using Maui Happy Hours.
