Run for Health: Join the 14th Maui 5K on March 2, 2025

WAILUKU, MAUI, HI – Get ready to hit the pavement for a cause at the 14th Annual Maui 5K, proudly presented by the Maui Ocean Center. Scheduled for Sunday, March 2, 2025, this event is not just a race; it’s a festive gathering aimed at supporting physical education and health initiatives in Maui’s schools.

Maui 5K 2025 Event Details

Location: Maui Ocean Center, 192 Ma’alaea Rd., Wailuku, HI, 96793.
Date & Time: March 2, 2025, from 7:00 AM to 9:00 AM HST.
Registration: Online at maui5k.org closes on February 26, 2025, at 11:59 PM HST. Late registrations are accepted at packet pickup and on race day but are untimed with no guaranteed t-shirt.

Maui 5K Race Options

Timed 5K Run: For those who love competition, this $50 entry includes timing and eligibility for age group awards.
Untimed 5K Run: At $45, this option is for participants who enjoy the run without the pressure of timing.
1 Mile Family Fun Walk: An untimed event for $40, perfect for families, keiki (children), and those looking for a less intense experience.
Stroller Entry: Add $10 to your registration if you plan to bring a stroller.
Virtual 5K: For those not on Maui, a $50 virtual option allows you to run or walk anywhere and still support the cause.

What’s New for the 2025 Maui 5K?

This year introduces the choice between a timed and untimed 5K, reflecting the inclusive spirit of the event where everyone can participate at their own pace.

Support Maui Schools with Your Run

100% of the proceeds from the Maui 5K go directly back to Maui Nui schools, supporting physical fitness, play, and athletic programs. This initiative by Run For Fitness, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, continues its mission to promote health among Hawaii’s youth by providing schools with additional funds for sports equipment and programs.

Get Involved in the Maui 5K

Volunteer Opportunities: Become a course marshal or finish line volunteer. Opportunities are available for ages 15-60, with roles starting as early as 6:00 AM on race day.

Donations: Even if you can’t run, you can contribute directly to a school of your choice via the website.

Maui 5K Packet Pickup Information

Pick up your race packet on Saturday, March 1, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM at a location to be announced (TBA). Remember, t-shirts are on a first-come-first-serve basis, so don’t delay!

The History Behind the Maui 5K Race

The Maui 5K was established in April 2011, inspired by the Nike 5K for Kids which ended in 2009. The event’s inaugural run was in 2012 at Ma’alaea Triangle, aiming to benefit Maui County schools. Over the years, it evolved from the Honolulu 5K initiative into Run For Fitness, now a well-established nonprofit focused on youth health. The Maui Ocean Center has been its title sponsor since September 2019, underlining the event’s community significance and growth.
