About:
Southshore Grindz is one of the newest restaurants in Kihei and is quickly becoming a favorite of Maui locals and visitors. They are located at 2439 South Kihei Rd, Suite 107A, in the Rainbow Mall, directly across the street from beautiful Kamaole Beach.
Southshore Grindz was started by Maui locals and restaurant industry veterans Charlie Seibert and Harneet Dhillon, who set out to “create a place that locals, residents, and visitors come together to enjoy the food from the island and forget their worries and relax.”
Their menu consists of a variety of Hawaiian, Pacific Rim, Asian, and American items including upscale plates, burgers, sandwiches, noodle dishes, and more. Southshore Grindz sources the highest quality ingredients using local, Maui-based suppliers as much as possible as part of their commitment to strengthening and serving the Maui Community.
The kitchen at Southshore Grindz is led by Chef Ahren Uyeda, whose extensive culinary experience and passion for Hawaiian food and culture shine through every dish.
Popular items at Southshore Grindz include the Fried Spam Musubi, Mochiko Chicken, Teriyaki Beef Plate, Garlic Noodles, Philly Cheesesteak Sandwich, Miso Garlic Scallops, Fish Tacos, Fried PB&J with Banana, and more.
All ages are welcome at Southshore Grindz, with several reviewers commenting on the family-friendly atmosphere. All in all, the new restaurant has been extraordinarily well-received on the island.
According to these recent Southshore Grindz diners:
“My entire family and I love this place so much. The staff are extremely friendly and the food is bomb! My favorite is the spam musubi deep fried with garlic aioli… i think i could eat a bowl of that garlic aioli. The burger was great, and THOSE TRUFFLE FRIESSS, they killed it. The poke was fresh and tasted good in their bowl. 10/10.”

“Had an excellent lunch today. Spam appetizer was excellent. We had both the Thai Peanut and catch of the day specials. Unique flavors, very yummy and outstanding service. Will definitely come here again. Obviously a hit with the locals based on the crowd. A ten in our books!”

“We happened upon this place while in Maui and the food and service were both really good! I got the Cuban sandwich and it was one of the best I’d ever had! The fries were also good and they give you a lot! Definitely recommend!”

“I drive my family nuts sometimes, as I do not like to repeat things. I don’t like watching a movie more than once and on vacation I like to experience as many different things as possible, no time for repeats. We spent a month on Maui, and I asked to repeat our trip to Southshore Grindz. Not only was my family stunned, but excited as it was their favorite place for dinner too.
The staff made us feel like locals (on both visits) and the food spectacular. My kids loved the juicy burgers (we did too), but it was the Cherreh Cheesesteak (and truffle fries) that blew my wife’s and I’s minds. I have never liked a cheesesteak outside of Philly, but this one easily is the best I have ever had. Perfect bread, flavorful meat, tasty jalapenos topped with heavenly cheese … all in a harmonic balance.
Note: we happily traveled 1.5 hours each time just to visit this place (so sad its now five thousand miles away, it will be our FIRST stop when we come back).”

“Located in the old Da Kitchen, finally got around to give this place a try. What hell was I waiting for?! Got the Cherreh Cheesesteak minus the Jalapeños. Winnah! Meat is juicy n tender and the roll is crisp on the crust. Well seasoned and not over cheesy. Portion size is killer. One thing to note is that the staff is super friendly. Exemplifies the true aloha spirit. Highly recommend and definitely coming back.”

While Southshore Grindz does not serve alcohol, they do allow BYOB, even offering a cold glass or ice bucket to guests as needed. In fact, the popular local beverage retailer Aloha Discount Liquor is conveniently located right next door.
